Perfumes I’m Loving Right Now…Gucci, Viktor & Rolf, Juliette Has a Gun & Jimmy Choo
Perfumes are something I’ve never really mentioned on my blog before. Mainly because I can’t describe smells to save my life!! You know those people who take one whiff of something and then describe it in some really intellectual way throwing about the words jasmine, sandalwood and spicy and musty…what?! To me, it smells fruity, not fruity, sweet, not sweet. However, I recently got sent a new fragrance to try by the beautiful guys at Harvey Nichols in Leeds. It’s from Juliette Has a Gun which is a brand I’d never actually come across before but it smells UNREAL. Yes, that’s how I’m gonna describe it. Unreal. I take it you know you’re not gonna get any useful lengthy descriptions here…
So yeah whilst I’m revealing all about one of my new favourite fragrances, I thought I’d share with you some other scents that I’m using at the moment too! First up though, is the newest release from Juliette Has a Gun which goes my the name of MMMM… which is exactly what it makes you do when you smell it. You just go mmmmm because it smells so so yummy!! Before we get onto that though, how nice is the bright pink design of the bottle?! It’s adding some much needed colour to my dressing table and it makes me feel all summery. I’ve not tried Dior’s Hypnotic Poison but it supposedly smells similar so if you like that, you’re going to love this. It’s sweet and girly but not too sickly sweet. Sometimes I’ll smell fragrances and be a bit overwhelmed by them but not this. I could literally sit there all day and smell it! You can buy it here.
Here’s all that intellectual smelly stuff for you:
Top notes: Neroli, Raspberry, Geranium
Heart notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac, Tuberose, Iris Butter
Base notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Salicylate
Next up, Jimmy Choo Illicit Flower. So Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum is one of my all-time favourite fragrances and I recently heartbreakingly sprayed my last drop of it the other day so I was already a huge fan of Jimmy Choo perfumes before I tried Illicit Flower. This is one of those ‘everyday perfumes’. The ones that smell really nice but they aren’t incredible and you probably wouldn’t rave about it. However, if you’re after a fresh, feminine fail-safe smell, then Illicit Flower would do the job perfectly. I do however much prefer the original Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum so if you’re tossing up between the two, I would go for that one. You can buy that one here or Illicit Flower here.
Notes: Apricot, Mandarin, Rose, Grapefruit Flower, Musk, Sandalwood.
Aimed at ‘the classic, modern Gucci woman who has a youthful, feminine spirit’, Gucci Flora is the perfume I reach for when I want to feel all sexy and sophisticated. Again, I love the classic and totally understated design that just oozes class. This is the perfect date night fragrance that will last ALL night long! It has a beautiful floral smell that’s not too heavy or overpowering and well, it just makes you feel like a million dollars! You can buy it here.
Top notes: Peony, fresh citrus
Base notes: Sandalwood, patchouli Finally, how could I write my first perfume post and not include Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb?! Flowerbomb is my favourite perfume EVER and if you’ve not tried it before, head down to Debenhams or wherever and spritz this alllll over you. I defy you not to buy it after you do!! It smells incredible and again, this is another perfume I could just sit there all day and smell. It’s floral and sweet smelling but in a good way and if you’re going to purchase just one of these perfumes, well it has to be this. Buy it here where it’s currently in the sale!
Key notes: centifolia rose, India osmanthus, catleya orchid, sambac jasmine
So yes, apologies for my totally shocking descriptions but seeing as it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday and well, perfumes are a lovely present to buy, I thought I’d share with you some of my faves! Hope you all have the best weekend!
