NARS Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette
I recently went on a trip to Chester (you can read my post here) and whilst I was there I spotted a Space NK and well, being the beauty addict I am I just had to go in and have a browse. The NARS Steven Klein One Shocking Moment palette had been on my wishlist ever since I saw it on my Instagram feed but when I finally saw it in person I just fell even more in love with it. Containing 4 blushes, 1 bronzer and a contour and highlighting duo, it felt well worth the money and the thought of walking out of Space NK without it quite frankly seemed a little heartbreaking. So of course, I ended up treating myself.
Photographer Steven Klein teamed up with NARS for their 2015 Holiday Collection and this was just one of the stunning products they created and the one that stood out the most to me. It’s a limited edition palette and exclusive to Space NK so grab it whilst you still can here. I love everything about this. From the gorgeous and totally wearable shades to the cool artistic and sturdy packaging. It’s such a handy palette to own too as instead of lugging around a separate blush, bronzer, highlighter and contouring shade, you can just carry this around with you instead as it contains everything your cheeks need! Until I purchased the One Shocking Moment palette, I didn’t actually own any of the shades which was good as I’m sometimes put off buying an expensive palette if I already own something in it. As well as some classics from the NARS range, it also contains 2 limited edition blush shades that you can’t get anywhere else.
I often chop and change when it comes to blush shades so I love the fact that there’s quite a variation of colours. Plus, it means there’s more than likely going to be a shade that suits you. However, if you always go for the same kind of blush shades, you might find yourself only using a couple of these rather than them all. Robotic is a baby pink shade and the lightest of the bunch and one that I think is best suited to lighter skintones rather than darker ones. It adds a subtle flush of pink and is such a pretty shade. To me, Blasphemy is like your typical blush shade. It’s a darker pink than Robotic and more of a rosy shade. It’s probably the one I’ve been reaching for the most as it just seems to go well with so many different makeup looks and it also contains a slight shimmer which I love. Another one that contains a slight shimmer is Luster. It’s absolutely gorgeous! Luster is a peachy coral shade that really reminds me of summer as it leaves my cheeks looking all glowy and fresh. Finally, there’s Dolce Vita. It’s one of NARS much loved shades and now I can totally see why. It’s a deep rose shade and the darkest of the lot. I think it’s the perfect blush for Autumn/Winter. Dolce Vita is also super pigmented so a light hand when applying it might be needed!
Now onto contouring. The palette contains the Paloma contouring duo. I was really expecting to hate this but I was actually pleasantly surprised at the contour shade. I think it’s great for contouring as the colour doesn’t lean towards the orange side and it blends in so well. However, I did find the highlighter a bit of a let down. I’m more of a shimmery fan when it comes to highlighters (think Mary Lou Manizer) so with this being a matte highlighting shade, it didn’t really do much for me. Instead I’ve been using it as an eyeshadow to brighten my lids and it does a decent job of that.
Finally, probably the most well known shade in the palette. Laguna is a bronzing powder and one of NARS’ most popular products. I’ve actually never tried Laguna until now (crazy I know!) as I normally use Benefit’s Hoola or Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess but I really really like it. It adds a natural warmth to your face and an all over subtle glow. It’s not the darkest of shades but it’s definitely buildable…the perfect everyday bronzer!
As you can probably tell, I’m such a huge NARS fan and their One Shocking Moment palette didn’t leave me disappointed. I love how you get nearly full sized products and how every colour applies so smoothly and is so easy to blend in. I think it’s definitely worth every penny and I’ve found myself reaching for it everyday since I bought it.
