High-End Beauty Products Worth the Price Tag

As a self-confessed beauty addict, the lack of beauty-related blog posts on my blog recently is seriously poor, I’m ashamed to admit it. With my New Year’s resolution to blog back in full swing though, I’m happy to say makeup and skincare will be featuring a whole lot more, I promise! I’ll often go through stages of either being obsessed with fashion and buying clothes or being obsessed with beauty and buying makeup or sometimes like now, I’m going through the worst stage of all…I want both clothes and makeup. Um, sorry bank balance! So today I thought I’d share with you some of my current favourite beauty bits. Not just any beauty bits, these are the high-end beauty products totally worth their slightly steep price tag.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation – I didn’t want to like it. I reaaally didn’t want to like it. Probably because I knew that if I did like it I’d have to fork out a fortune every time the precious stick ran out. I was hoping it would be overhyped and overrated but unfortunately I like it, I really do. Having only tried one stick foundation before and being severely disappointed by it (Make Up Revolution Foundation Stick…I’m talking to you!) I was a bit sceptical about this one. A few swipes across my face, a swirl of my Zoeva Silk Finish brush and on inspection, it had provided me with a beautiful finish. Like the name suggests, it was indeed pretty damn seamless. A few swipes more and a bit more buffing and I came face to face with a flawless full coverage finish. My biggest pet hate with so many foundations is lasting power. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than looking in the mirror half way through the day and seeing a patchy oxidised mess. I can thankfully say that this is not the case with the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation. Paired with my Smashbox primer (the best primer ever), this foundation lasts ALL day. Like seriously. Just for reference I have normal/combo skin that’s slightly on the dryer side of the scale. I get a really dry nose and unlike so many other foundations, this doesn’t accentuate that at all. Let’s just hope this pricey stick lasts a very long time…

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium – Okay so you know this is gonna end with me saying YSL Black Opium is a beautiful scent and you just have to try it but I’ll carry on anyway. Perfume is something that rarely ever features on my blog. In fact, I think I’ve only ever written about perfume maybe once before because if I’m being entirely honest, I’m usually super boring and stick to the same scents. I really need to start being more adventurous don’t I? YSL Black Opium is one of the most popular scents out there and for a very good reason. It smells divine. And that’s coming from someone who’s a bit rubbish when it comes to smells. Seriously, I’m like a boy! I’ll often smell something and I either can’t smell it at all or I have no idea what it smells like but with this, well I love it. It probably goes without saying but YSL is totally worth the splurge. 100%. I’d own everything Yves Saint Laurent if I could. Well, wouldn’t we all? But if you’re not on a billionaires budget like little ol’ me, this perfume is that bit of luxury you can totally justify.

Guerlain Bronzing Powder – After running out of my all time fave MAC Give Me Sun, (I still adore this bronzer by the way, I just felt like a break was needed) I upped my game a bit and upped the price tag too and tried my first Guerlain product. Oh yes, my very first, so as you can probably guess, my expectations were sky high. I wanted a bronzer that was natural but not too natural because well, I like a bronzed glow I’m not gonna lie. The worry with bronzers is that after one swipe you fear you could resemble a satsuma but the Guerlain Bronzing Powder doesn’t satsuma you at all, I promise. It’s bronzed rather than orange and although for the price tag, the cute compartment that for some reason reminds me of being on holiday, could be a little sturdier, other than that I can’t complain. It is expensive I’ll admit and you can probably find cheaper bronzers that are comparable (I’ll get back to you on this) but if you want a gorgeous sunkissed glow and you fancy treating yourself to a bit of luxury, Guerlain’s got your back.

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – Having used a compact powder for years, I find loose powders hard to handle. Yep my clumsy self and spillable products surprisingly don’t go well together. Honestly, when I spilt my beloved MAC Vanilla pigment everywhere after the first few days of owning it, I realised I hated loose powdery makeup but well, after the rave reviews the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder received, I just had to give loose powders another go. Whether it’s a setting powder you’re after or something to perfect your baking routine with, this powder is perfect. I’ve tried cheaper high street versions of the Laura Mercier powder but if I’m honest, they didn’t quite live up to this which is why I think it’s worth spending that bit extra. Oh and the no flashback formulation is a bonus so you don’t have to worry about ghostly selfies on your next night out. Perfect!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector – I once did a full review of this gem which you can read all about here. Highlighter is my all-time favourite makeup product. I love nothing more than a good old glow. Since I received the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector back in 2017, I haven’t looked back or elsewhere at another highlighter. Okay that’s a bit of a lie, there’s definitely others I love too, in fact I could literally fill up a wardrobe with highlighters whoops…can you get help for being a highlighter addict? Anyway, there’s just something about the shimmer that the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector provides that’s like no other. If you prefer a more subtle glow then this probably isn’t for you because truth is, it’s very glowy. If it doesn’t quite live up to your glowing standards though, for an even glowier look take Sarah Ashcroft’s tip and apply the Topshop Glow highlighter before it for the glowiest of glows. Your cheeks won’t know what’s hit them!

So there you have it, my favourite high-end beauty products that are worth the expensive price tag. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a lover of high-street beauty brands. In fact, my makeup bag is probably 50/50 split between high-street and high-end because obviously, high prices don’t always mean high quality but with these products, the high quality is definitely there. So if miserable January is making you down then I personally think you deserve a treat and these products are definitely treat-worthy…

Have you tried any of these before? Are there any high-end products you love?
