A Trip to Manchester

If money wasn’t an option I’d be in a different country every week. I absolutely love travelling and I cannot wait to jet off to Greece soon. Excited is an understatement! So on my ‘saving for holiday’ budget, my boyfriend and I recently swapped our ‘let’s do a city break to Palma’ for a ‘let’s go to Manchester’…erm yep, not quite as glamorous hey but a whole lot cheaper and still so much fun. I love Manchester and I think if I had to move to another city in the UK it would definitely be one of my first choices. I mean, if Leeds fancy building a Selfridges then I may reconsider my move though…I apologise in advance for the image quality not being very good. I forget to take my camera along with me to Manchester so all the pictures have all been taken on my iphone boo. 2We got the train nice and early and headed straight for a bite to eat. We were starving and didn’t fancy looking anywhere for ages and came across The Cosy Club. The decor was unique and the food was delicious – we got lots of nibbles including calamari, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese and crusty bread with balsamic vinegar along with a glass of wine. My boyfriend and I are massive fans of getting lots of different small courses for lunch, you can just never get bored. 3Then it was time for a spot of shopping or should I say, me dragging my boyfriend in every shop!  I tried to go to the stores that we don’t have in Leeds rather than Topshop etc as I visit them far too often.5

9After shopping we headed to The Alchemist for cocktails. I chose the Strawberry Cup which is one of my favourite cocktails from The Alchemist and my boyfriend went for the Zombie. Then we headed to the hotel to check in. 6We stayed at the Novotel which is a 4* hotel right in the centre of Manchester. I actually had pretty low expectations for the Novotel even though I’ve never stayed in one before. Like they say, never judge a book by it’s cover though because the hotel was actually SO nice. We got upgraded to an executive room, received free welcome drinks and there were chocolates left on the bed too which was a lovely touch! The room was so nice with a massive comfy bed that we didn’t want to move from and the coolest bathroom ever. I’d definitely recommend staying in the Novotel if you’re ever visiting Manchester. 7

8After relaxing for a bit and watching the hugee TV, I showered, eventually chose an outfit and headed to Sakana Pan Asian in Spinningfields for food. Sakana’s is a pan Asian street food restaurant and the food is just amazing. We started with thai prawn crackers, prawn tempura and pork dumplings followed by sushi and then we shared a Pad Thai which was probably the best Pad Thai I’ve ever tried. It was SO delicious! 10

14Afterwards we headed to Australasia. I’d been wanting to go to Australasia for ages and my boyfriend had said how good it was so I had high expectations. Luckily, it was just as good as I hoped. The decor was gorgeous and the cocktails were so good. I am so excited to go back! 15In the morning we indulged in a full English, cappuccinos and pastries in bed to nurse the hangover. After checking out, we headed to Banyan for a drink and then it was back on the train to Leeds. 16
